"Believe you can and you are halfway there."
25-Years-Ago, Charles Guidry woke from a month-long coma in Children's Hospital of New Orleans and was forced into a life that no 12-year-old should have to face – a life of disability. Yet, despite the obstacles he faced, years of therapy and determination allowed him to progress from being unable to push a wheelchair down the halls of his middle school to walking with crutches at his high school graduation. Charles then took those same crutches to the campus of a university, where he walked away with a degree in Journalism.
Charles' unique situation allows him to fully experience the unbridled compassion of strangers who are quick and selfless to offer assistance. Now it is time for him to return the debt of kindness, compassion, and support his community has freely given. Having been on the other side of the system for far too long, Charles is now taking the opportunity to serve his district.
